High School Construction Day

A selective, hands-on opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to experience an active job site, explore construction careers, and demonstrate interest in the field.

What happens at Construction day?

Students don’t just hear about construction careers. They step into the work, meet thepeople behind it, and try their hand at a real-world building challenge.

Morning: Site Tour

Students start the day by getting a firsthand look at a current construction project. When the event ishosted at or near an active job site, they’ll tour the work, hear what’s happening on the project, and seehow planning, safety, teamwork, and skilled trades come together.

Lunch

Over lunch, students get a chance to connect with the Wiens & Co. crew in a more casual setting. It’s asimple way for students to keep asking questions, hear real career stories, and get a better feel for thepeople and culture behind the work.

Afternoon: Hands-On Activity

In the afternoon, students put what they’ve learned into action through a team-based building challenge.Working together, they’ll measure, problem-solve, communicate, and compete as they square up a GOAThouse.

This hands-on activity gives students a chance to try real construction skills in a fun, approachable way. Italso gives teachers, counselors, and the Wiens & Co. team a chance to see students’ confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving come through.

Hear from Students Who’ve Attended

Construction Day gives students a chance to see the work up close, ask real questions, and try something hands-on for themselves. For many, it helps connect what they’re learning in school to summer job opportunities, and a possible career path after graduation.
